Organize with myCourses

The Content tool is where you upload materials needed for your course, such as your lecture slides, course readings, links, and any other course materials. Content is organized into Modules, which act as folders, and Items, which act as links to files, websites, and other activities in your course. All top-level modules appear in a list in the sidebar. One strategy for organization is to replicate the structure of your course outline so students can easily find what they need. Other strategies are to organize content by week, topic, or file type.

The Content tool has these main areas:

  • Course overview: Allows you to upload your course outline or an overview of the course. When students access Content, this is the first page they will see. If you do not add a Course Overview, students will go to the Table of contents page.

  • Bookmarks: Allows you and your students to bookmark your respective items. You cannot share bookmarked items with your students. 

  • Upcoming events: Lists due dates, start dates, end dates for course content, and other Calendar events for the course.

Brightspace offers two ways to view courses content in myCourses: the current content experience and the new content experience. The new content experience offers UnitsLessons, and Folders to organize course materials, and it does not have a Course overviewBookmarks, or Upcoming events section. Read about the differences between the two experiences and how to toggle between them.
