Create question sections in myCourses

You can create question Sections to organize your questions into different folders.  As with creating questions, you can either create sections within the Question Library to help you organize all of your questions for each quiz, survey, or self-assessment, or you can create sections directly within each of these tools.

Create a Section

  1. On the main Quizzes, Surveys, or Self Assessments page, click the name of the quiz, survey, or self assessment you want to add a Section to.

  2. Click Add/Edit Questions.

    OR

    On the main Quizzes, Surveys, or Self Assessments page, click Question Library at the top of the page to create a new Section in the Question Library.

  3. Click Add (Add/Edit Questions page) or New (Question Library), and then select Section.

  4. On the following page, enter a Section Title.

  5. (Optional) Enter Section Text that will appear to students at the beginning of the section. See Use textboxes in myCourses for more information. 

  6. (Optional) Select one or both checkboxes to Hide Section Title from learners or Hide Section Text from learners.

  7. (Optional) Select Shuffle questions in this section. This option will shuffle all sections, question pools, and questions placed within this section. This will help to randomize the questions in your quiz, survey, or self assessment. 

  8. Click Save.

Move questions into Sections

You can move questions into or out of a Section within the Question Library or the Add/Edit Questions page within an individual quiz, survey or self assessment by using the Move feature.

You can only move questions between sections within the Add/Edit Questions page for the quiz, survey, or self assessment you are viewing or within the Question Library. You cannot move questions into Random Sections or to other Add/Edit Questions pages. You must use the Import button to perform these actions. See Import Questions into a myCourses Quiz, Survey or Self Assessment for more information.

  1. Go to the Question Library OR the Add/Edit Questions page within a specific quiz, survey, or self assessment if you want to move questions from one of those pages into a Section. 

  2. Select the checkbox beside each question you want to move into another Section.

  3. Click Move.

  4. Click the name of the Section to move the questions to OR click Collection Root to move the question to the main Add/Edit Questions page.
