Pulse app for myCourses

Pulse is a mobile app that can help students stay connected and on track with their courses in myCourses. As the instructor, you will need to edit your course offerings so your students can use the Pulse app to stay up-to-date and prepare for your class. The Pulse app is available for Android and iOS.

What is Pulse?

Pulse is a mobile app provides one easy view of course calendars, announcements, readings, assignments and grades on mobile devices.

Students will be able to:

  • Seamlessly login to myCourses via a browser to complete tasks.

  • Receive notifications about course content, announcements and grades.

  • View courses and course content.

  • See all the important dates and deadlines for each course.

  • Enter events and deadlines.

  • Mark activities as complete

As the instructor, please remember to edit your course offerings so your students can use the Pulse app to stay up-to-date and prepare for your class.

What do I need to do?

If you are already uploading content, creating announcements and entering grades, students will receive notifications about these activities in the Pulse app.

You will also need to make a few adjustments within the Pulse app. Watch the videos below for instructions:

  1. Enter due dates for assignments:

  2. Put a check on Major edit - send a notification and restore it for those who dismissed it whenever you make changes to announcements.

What are the limitations?

  • Some uploaded content (e.g. videos) may not be viewable in the Pulse app. We recommend to log into myCourses when you are not able to view the content in the Pulse app.

  • Pulse App is supported on the following mobile operating systems:

    • Android 6 and above

    • iOS13 and above

FAQ

From the Announcement edit page, make sure that you put a check on Major edit - send a notification and restore it for those who dismissed it.

When you create assignments and/ or discussions in myCourses, make sure to add due dates.
